Greenwood took to social media on Tuesday to share photos of his remarkable collection of Nike footwear. The shoes featured in the photos was estimated to be worth upwards of £20,000 ($25,000). But despite that haul and the fact that Greenwood has featured for Getafe this season in Nike boots, the sportswear giant have distanced themselves from the former-England star.

“Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete," a spokesman for the Oregon-based company told The spokesman went on to state that there is no commercial relationship at all between Nike and Greenwood.

Nike cut ties with Greenwood in February 2022 after Manchester United suspended the player after he was arrested by Greater Manchester Police. Greenwood was subsequently charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive and controlling behaviour. The case against him was dropped by prosecutors in February, triggering a lengthy internal inquiry by United, which ended in the player being sent on loan to Getafe.

Greenwood and Getafe host bottom club Almeria in La Liga this Saturday afternoon. The former United forward has four goal contributions in nine league appearances for his new employers, who sit 11th in the table after 13 matches.
