Kane moved to Bayern during the summer of 2023, seemingly looking to finally end his career trophy drought. However, Bayer Leverkusen's remarkable unbeaten season, and England's defeat to Spain at Euro 2024, meant that Kane did not get his hands on a winner's medal in the 2023-24 season.

Van der Vaart, who played for Kane's former club Tottenham between 2010 and 2012, has bemoaned the striker's luck but did reveal his relief at the England man heading to Germany, instead of staying in the Premier League. The Dutchman also painted a nightmare scenario of Spurs conceding a goal to the 31-year-old and claimed that having come through the club's academy, Kane "is Tottenham".

WHAT VAN DER VAART SAID

Van der Vaart told GOAL: “I'm happy that he didn’t move inside England. I think that Harry is Tottenham, you know what I mean? And when you're from your own youth system and you grew up at Tottenham, they gave you everything they could but then you play for Man United and score against them? It's normal, but for Harry, no. Harry is Tottenham, and so it was a good move (to Bayern). And of course, he wants to win something, and Bayern Munich wins the title every year. And he goes there, scoring again, 40 goals, and then there is one club Leverkusen, out of the blue. How unlucky is he? I’m so sorry for him."
